BUT it didn't fit my 2 year old son. He has a good size head so I bought the child one. Another reviewer said it fit her 4 year old, so I went for it. I couldn't even get it on my little dudes head! Other than that.. it's a cool helmet. Looks sturdy and like it was built to last. The bright side for me is that Amazon rocks if you need to make a return!! I did know I have a 3 year old son going on 4 in one month thats fairly tall and larger than the average 3 year old. He is closer to your smaller 5 year old than a 3 year old. We purchased the Child size and it fit well. He has room to grow into it with different pad thicknesses included and it was not tight. Matter of fact the straps had no more room to tighten at his ideal fitting.If you have a child younger than 3 that is normal sized, get the youth size because the child size may be too big. Anyone 4 and older should get the child size so that you dont have to go and replace a helmet in 2 years because jr. had a growth spurt. Great quality by the way.
